[NEED MORE INFO]ICU can't do blood transfusion? Empty [NEED MORE INFO]ICU can't do blood transfusion?

Fri Jan 04, 2019 9:29 pm
I had experienced multiple occasions where a collapsed patient is fully diagnosed with some kind of surgery as a treatment, revealed a hidden symptom (usually hypovolemic shock - require blood transfusion to suppress symptom).  Usually if the patient is brought back and not need to go to ICU, the blood transfusion will be first on the list of care given.  However, if the patient was sent to ICU due to cardio failure, and needing artificial ventilation on top of other urgent care (in this case blood transfusion), the patient will be intubated and icu hospitalization will be active while blood transfusion (a common procedure in ICU with standardized guideline for trigger / procedures) will be left as assigned but not active.

I had lost countless patients with easy to treat problem and a simple blood transfusion will suppress the symptom that cause them collapse or death, while the ICU doc and nurse just sit at the computer and do nothing, and once in a while the nurse go check on the patient but no additional treatment done.

This occur quite often but not all ICU patient

Hi and thank you for your report. Can you pleas upload your save as well? We can have a look why the blood transfusion is not prescribed. By any chance is there some other treatment planned before the blood transfusion?  Surgeries has higher priority. Thank you again
