Patients waiting for lab tests not so expectant..
Sat Mar 21, 2020 5:16 am
It's really no wonder why my lab has the lowest prestige in all of my hospitals. I try everything but when these clinic patients who wait for their tests wait more than 3 hours for their results to come back, they get really upset for no real reason at all. I've had over 10 blood tests (I have a iron deficiency and anemia, so I know all about getting these tests done) and it takes more than a week at least to get my results back. I don't want it to take that long or the time to take the tests speed up, but maybe decrease clinic patient's expectations.

What's the workload in your labs?
I try to keep them on low-medium max, because our clients aren't indeed the most patient...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the lab and radiology don't take account of patient satisfaction, only staff satisfaction.
Are your staff overworked or do they have the depressed perk?

The workload in my labs are usually pretty high. I don't know either if the prestige takes in the account of the patient, but most of my lab techs are usually happy. They have a common room, none of them are depressed, they seem okay. I've also tried speeding up the lab with more machines/lab techs, not much improvement. So in this case, I'm not 100% sure about it but it would be nice if the clinic patients were more patient.

Hmm, in my (mod heavy) current hospital I have 175 patients per day, the Oncology mod activated (which is Histology heavy) and I have 8 hematology, 8 histology, and 4 microbiology labs. All labs have 2 techs per shift, so that makes for a total of 80 lab techs per 175 patients.
That's a workable amount, but some Hematology labs are still on a medium-high workload. Most of my labs have a 'low' workload, though.
They're quite heavy on salaries but with 175 patients I still make quite a profit
With this amount of lab-power I still occasionally get patients who are tired of waiting on lab results. So yeah, perhaps they could benefit from a longer timer.

I rather question the fact that they stay in hospital to wait for lab results. That never happens in real life if you visit your local GP (he calls you back when he gets the results and sends you home meanwhile) and stationary at hospital...well, you stay put in bed and the docs tell you when there are results at visiting hours. But never I had to go to the lab myself and wait there.
