How does transfer between departaments works?
Wed Jun 10, 2020 4:41 am
Hi
I have a poly trauma section that holds 4 patients. One of them has broken bones, so I want to transfer him to the orthopedic department to make space to incoming patient. But, as you can see in the picture, there are 3 idle nurses just in the next room. My doubt is, when I transfer a patient from department A to B, who takes him? The nurse from A or B? And where they get the stretcher (is this the correct name? the bed with wheels to move patients. English isn't my language)? Because i have seen nurses going very far to pick up a stretcher to move patients even when there's one next to him.

I watched the game to see it in action.
After the emergency treatment and examination of the critically ill patient who was transported by ambulance, he issued a transfer instruction for the patient who needs to be transferred to general surgery and checked the nurse who came to see that he was a general surgery nurse.
In other words, the person in charge of the transfer is the nurse of the transfer destination department (B's nurse).
However, it is very difficult to find out where the nurse will bring the stretcher from...
Basically, if you're using the officially prepared prefabs, I don't think you'll have a serious stretcher shortage, so you shouldn't worry too much.

I understood how it works for transfers between departments with nurses, but how about departments with no nurses? Like X-ray?

so, if I am reading your question right this is how i'll answer. Dept transfers don't occur until the patient returns back to their present dept after the radiological procedure. much like trauma patients: if a procedure identifies a diagnosis, then you must wait for the patient to return back to trauma before you can transfer them to the dept responsible for treatment.

In other words, regarding "patients who cannot walk and move with their own feet" (patients who have been transported by ambulance or patients who have fallen unconscious in the hospital),
Are you asking about the person responsible for transferring the patient to an examination room, such as an X-ray room?
I ordered a CT examination for a patient who was transported by ambulance and checked the situation.
The nurse in the emergency department brought the stretcher to transport the patient.
Probably, the transfer of “patients who cannot walk on their own feet” to the laboratory is the responsibility of the nurse in the department where the patient is currently located.

laboratory? I don't recall patients being transported to any of three laboratory depts for diagnostic work. the doctors pull the supplies from the cabinets, sample the specimen, and then it is picked up (I think).

True, many tests are done in the TC or in the bed in the hospital room, but radiology tests require the transfer of patients to each room.
And about that, I just confirmed the game in action.
Note:
I'm Japanese and I can't do this in English with my own knowledge, so I use Google Translate.
Recently, Google Translate doesn't understand words correctly, doesn't properly segment long sentences, bypasses the retranslation check of "Japanese → English → Japanese", and makes me adopt incorrect English sentences...

ahh ok. I was a bit confused on the use of the word laboratory as opposed to radiology since they both perform diagnostics on patients just in different ways.
