Patient from trauma dept. attended by ICU doctor. Empty Patient from trauma dept. attended by ICU doctor.

Hi

The patient arrived at the trauma dept. by ambulance and was seen by the doctor, stabilized and when the doctor left, the patient collapsed. Then the ICU doctor (red arrow in the figure) came running to apply mechanical ventilation. What I don't understand is that there were 2 trauma doctors idle nearby, and the ICU is far from the trauma department. This shouldn't happen, right?

Docs might have been reserved for something else like waiting for another patient. In that case the next free doc or tech rushes to stabilize collapsed patients. A good thing this was an IC doc - mostly they also have anestologist which increases survival rate at stabilizing. I had a pathologist treat a patient while alive...
