Removing inaccurate disease and replacing with accurate one Empty Removing inaccurate disease and replacing with accurate one

If we become aware of a badly programmed illness in the distributed game and wish to overwrite it or remove it while awaiting the devs to fix it, is there a way to do that?

I think that it is possible, do you have an example? It will be easier to show you how to do it on example.

Oh I had just been reading a post from a real life doctor on these forums pointing out some inaccuracy, so I just wondered in general.  I'd guess it largely depends how the game reads in custom data, whether a custom xml with a matching main key will override one that has already been read in, or whether we have to actually edit a game file, which isn't really ideal at all it would invariably break with most patches. I thought some early uptaker might have already explored this

For now, I think, you have to modify game files directly.

You can do that, but It'll be a lot of work right now.
You have to delete Stuff like:

• Symptoms
• Descriptions
• Diseases
• Examnations
... and so on
Obviously you can change them for your likings.
For example, if you want to change just the descriptions, go to : " ProjectHospital_Data\StreamingAssets\Database\Localization " and change the respective File.
For Diagnoses it'll be "StringTableEnDiagnoses.xml"

Or just wait a bit, the Dev's are trying to release a starting Guide for modding this week (if everything runs fine and they'll get it out obv)

I've successfully added symptoms to a disease - not been able to add an entirely new one yet. Not been fiddling with it much, but I imagine it's possible. Anyone else doing any better?

For myself I moved all non surgical diseases to internal medicine department and all surgical diseases from internal medicine department to general surgery department. But IM department still needs chief surgeon, anesthesiologist and surgery nurse - it is probably hardcoded.

Yeah, I added one new main symptom. Just tell me if you want to take a look at my files, or just a short explanation of how I did it. Smile

I think I gathered this from one of your other posts. The presence of a main symptom was the step I overlooked - foolish.
