Is the "Loyal" trait retroactive? Empty Is the "Loyal" trait retroactive?

The Loyal trait reduces the salary by 20% for each level the pawns gain, my question is; is it retroactive? For example, if I hire a level 4 pawn with loyal, is it applied to past levels gained (1 to 4)? Or only forward from 4 to 5?
