Run in Background Feature

This game should have the ability to run in the background so when you minimize game screen or open another screen over it, the game continues to run without pause.

-Also the ability to zoom in closer would be cool, and limiting the amount of auto saves.-

My game continues while I am in another window and I didn't set anything specially for it to do so.

I have the same problem as OP. Any ideas? I've looked in the windows 10 settings and the game settings, found nothing that would indicate that it should pause.

Well I am running in windowed mode, can that make a difference?

I tried that and it still pauses when I navigate on another window. It works as long as you don't do anything but watch.

+1, exactly the same problem, neither in window mode nor otherwise is the game still running. It's really an important feature to me since with these kinds of sims it's often the case that you are doing something else at the same time, checking mails, watching video etc. and currently it's pretty hard to do so because the game just does not progress.
