Depts: Poison/Envenomation & Infectious Diseases Empty Depts: Poison/Envenomation & Infectious Diseases

I'd love to see content (and pay for it) that deals with infectious disease response: containment labs, ISO rooms ect, as well as a dept that deals specifically with poison and envenomation (snake, spider, animals, insects, materials) that also requires the administration of antivenom.

Hi, due to the current situation, the infectious disease department or adding the infectious diseases, in general, is highly wanted content. Also the main topic of many team meetings. But poisonings and envenomation devoted department is quite an interesting idea that should be considered. Thanks for the tip.

Toxicology is a quite important thing so I like that part of the suggestion. There are regions where one should take into account venomous animals visiting your home (many Australians and Africans might concur) so treatment of bites and stings with antivenins is something important yet not available in many clinics unless you are living in an endangered area. Still your patient might have an exotic pet or we have other ways to treat poisoning like indigestion of cleaning agents (something mostly related to kids), injuries while handling hazardous materials which might reflect things like handling and breathing in solvents in a non-aired area without precaution, fire gases, drug abuse and many more cases, where the specialist is consulted by his peers.

There are some interdisciplinary points in the labs and in the coming pathology. We might have forensic toxicology as part to determine the cause of death or check the blood of a person for drugs or toxins.
A toxicology might have a special pharmacy holding antivenins and antiserums.
Toxicology also covers stationary treatment and de-poisoning of drug addicts in conjunction with psychiatrists.

In times of Corvid-19 isolation wards might be a bit more common but I rather question their operation on a regular base and expect that most hospitals do not have many of those ready. Virology might also be a lab specialization. Altogether, useful ideas.
