[RESOLVED] GOG, Load issue, Spelling Error
Thu Nov 01, 2018 8:26 pm
I know that is trivial at this point in development, but you have a spelling error. "ofter" should be "often" in Long Commute. I would have entitled it typo, but "r" is not near "n" on the keyboard.
I am having problems with loading saves and running tutorials, too, but I see other people have reported those issues. I seem to have made loading saves work by running the game as Administrator. I looked at the log and it has a lot of calls to a directory on C:\, which does not seem to exist (Filename: C:/buildslave/unity/build/artifacts/generated/common/runtime/DebugBindings.gen.cpp). I have the game on the D:\ drive. Just for grins and giggles I have attached that log file.
This is a good game. I hope you get the issues fixed.

Hi, thanks a lot for the report, there's actually a few very useful bits of information here, including the log.
Good news:
- The typo has been fixed
- Also one of the errors I can see in your log file that probably prevented you from loading a game is also fixed in the latest build
The administrator thing is really interesting, as the game zips saved games and unzips them before loading them - so for some reason it probably fails to write to the save game folder. Would be great if you could have a look and check if there's something unusual (file location is in this topic: https://projecthospital.forumotion.com/t717-how-to-report-bugs).
I'm also seeing a lot of errors when the game tries to set an achievement - seeing this is the GOG version, are you launching the game from Galaxy?
Thanks in advance!

I did find the save files. I expected to find a compatibility directory situation but did not, and that is when I looked for and found the files. One thing I noticed is that once the game has bugged out on an assigned area, in the case in question a non-existent waiting room for the emergency department that was showing up as existing, the game will save but not load. Neither my saves nor the auto-saves will load after that. Neither will any area assignments be recognized afterward, or at least I think that was the case. I've attached what I think is a save of that situation, but of course I cannot load it and look at it to see if that is the correct save. So it may be that changing to administrator did not actually do anything. The new save as an administrator may have simply been before the game was corrupted.
I do not play games online, so no, I do not use Galaxy. I care nothing for achievements. Should I, in this case? Is there locked content that can only be gotten from achievements, in this game? I hope not.
Thanks for writing the game. It is fascinating to play, and will be more so once saves can be loaded. I just tried to reload another save made after four hours of playing, and it is no go. Something got corrupted, I suppose.

Hi, thanks for the reply! I double-checked your attached save and the error gets indeed corrected on load in the latest version of the game (the patch is available on GOG as well - and basically the one reason why I'd recommend using Galaxy is the convenience of automatic updates as I'm expecting we'll be patching the game quite often these days). Btw no, there's no content locked behind achievements.

I loathe automatic updates. I much prefer being able to roll back if for some reason the latest patch is worse then some previous state. That is part of why I prefer to buy from GOG than from Steam. I see that the patch is not yet available on GOG, by the way. Or at least the version listed as available is the same as the version I have (1.0.14224). I guess I shall have to wait until GOG gets around to posting the patch.
Good news about the achievements.
