[OPEN LOW] Pathfinding
Tue Nov 06, 2018 7:59 pm
I have a patient in neurology who is hospitalized in an HDU with its own toilet, sink, and hand dryer. She insists on using the ones in the room back-to-back with hers because it is marginally closer as the crow flies. Aside from the absurdity of patients getting up from their sickbeds and dashing around the hospital in search of toilets and snack machines, this is just wrong. It is not the only example I have seen, but this one I could isolate. I attach the save game and the log file, although she is not listed in the log file. The game does not find any error in her behavior, even if I do. All of the people in the game, staff and patients, think they are mole rats who can burrow through walls. One even went down three floors, went along an outside walkway in his long johns, up another elevator, and used a washroom which was closer to his hospital bed than the one he passed on his own floor along the way to the elevator.
Edit: No log file attached because "Could not upload file : exceeded total storage space (Free space : 112)."

I will try the log file again. Nope, it is a problem on your server, I guess. The log file is only a little over 2 MB.

Hello and thanks for the report!
Regarding the pathfinding at scenario that you uploaded - patient is looking for the closest WC from his position (not taking into account walls) and that is why they will not use the one that is in his/her cell.
Anyway we will definetely take a look on the pathfinding in the future;)

I have compensated by building a one-tile hollow wall between rows of rooms for now. It is amusing that you should refer to the room as a cell. It does remind me of Prison Architect.
