Common Rooms

Is there really any use for these now that we have cafeterias, as long as we put bookcases, TVs, and sofas in the offices? When I build them now, people pour into them but they do not do anything different from what they were doing in their office. All that appears to happens is that my staff go on long treks to sit on a sofa in a public room.
