How do patient collapses work?
Thu Oct 22, 2020 12:04 pm
I think I'm missing something with how patient collapses work, as I have noticed that I am getting collapses from patients with no pulsing symptoms, and patients that have been fully treated - all symptoms are dark and show 'suppressed'.
I'm wondering if this is due to low skilled nurses, or not enough nurses, as these collapses are happening on wards.
I'm interested in both technical and anecdotal info - there's x number of checks on HDU patients in an hour, or 'I noticed that when I did x, I had fewer collapses' and so on.

what is the value of "x" ? LOL. I've never adjusted the number of checks performed on HDU patients. Interesting.

Hi, it sounds like a delayed collapse in the queue. It should not happen when symptoms are suppressed. Could be a bug. Would you please send us a save file?

??? I was referring to people who know how many times patients are checked normally, which would let me check that my staffing levels are high enough. It's an example....MedJet wrote:what is the value of "x" ? LOL. I've never adjusted the number of checks performed on HDU patients. Interesting.

Happy to... if you're kind enough to remind me how to do that?

AppData is a hidden folder - you can get to it by clicking on the folder pathway bar at the top, then manually adding \appdata to the pathway. Alternatively, at the very top of File Explorer is a menu bar for "view", and under there there's a tick box to allow you to view hidden items.

Here's the save file. I'd also appreciate knowing why my trauma room people keep walking away from their patient. I thought it was because they were busy, but no, they'll walk away back to their work station and either sit there, ignoring their patient while they collapse, or walk back and forth ad nauseum, until collapse or they get sent upstairs.

Hi guys, appreciate the pictures. We examined the mechanism and learn that the collapse could be already in the queue only blocked by some unfinished action so not visible at the moment. Once the action is finished the collapse can manifest so the situation you are describing can happen. To alter the mechanism is on our to-do list so hopefully, brighter days are ahead :-).

You guys do amazing work Thanks for the input
Does this mean that the patient is reaching collapse point BEFORE the symptoms are suppressed, then the game reaches the collapse event and the collapse occurs AFTER all symptoms are suppress?

Is it possible to rework the new traumatology department in collapsing? its way more often (and more annoying).
Or is it possible to give an option where i can adjust myself how often i want them to collapse?

The rate at which they collapse can be set in .... tweakable file, I think

Are some of the patients deliberately programmed to collapse? Because I've had some patients come in, sit down, then collapse immediately

Yes, exactly like that. It should not happen too often but it is possible... for now ;-).

That's unfortunate.
Still, you guys good work, so I'm confident it'll be fixed before long

As Esidara mentioned, collapse possibility can be set in Tweakables.xml (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Project Hospital\ProjectHospital_Data\StreamingAssets\Database)
Look for:
<GameDBTweakableInt ID="TWEAKABLE_COLLAPSE_TIME_PERCENT"> <Value>100</Value> </GameDBTweakableInt

There's also
<GameDBTweakableFloat ID="TWEAKABLE_COLLAPSE_REPEAT_MIN_HOURS"> <Value>3.0</Value> </GameDBTweakableFloat>
<GameDBTweakableFloat ID="TWEAKABLE_COLLAPSE_REPEAT_MAX_HOURS"> <Value>6.0</Value> </GameDBTweakableFloat>
Tweaking those helps as well.
What does changing this:
<GameDBTweakableInt ID="TWEAKABLE_COLLAPSE_TIME_PERCENT"> <Value>100</Value> </GameDBTweakableInt>
Actually do?
<GameDBTweakableFloat ID="TWEAKABLE_COLLAPSE_REPEAT_MIN_HOURS"> <Value>3.0</Value> </GameDBTweakableFloat>
<GameDBTweakableFloat ID="TWEAKABLE_COLLAPSE_REPEAT_MAX_HOURS"> <Value>6.0</Value> </GameDBTweakableFloat>

No, collapse should always occur due to critical symptoms. So the patient is spawned with critical symptom and probability of collapse grow higher with time since patients arrive. Sometimes collapse occurs sooner sometime later.

If I remember correctly, the higher value should be lowering the probability of collapse so even if there is a pulsing symptom the collapse should start later.
