[NEED MORE INFO] Save Failed - Lost 3 hours of building
Fri Oct 28, 2022 10:10 pm
I spent a few hours building a new wing on my hospital, complete with 2 new departments. When I went back to live mode, none of the staff or patients were showing up. Dialogue boxes were showing up alerting me to patient events and showing room logs. But no animations of people, and the outlines of room delegations were showing up as well. I cycled around to build mode, etc. and back to live. Still nothing. I decided to hit save and head back to the menu to reload the save. When I got back to the menu, the save was not there. The last save was from 1-3 hours earlier prior to building.
It's certainly very frustrating to have just spent 2-3 hours building 2 new departments and a whole wing of the hospital, and then just have all the work disappear.
Details:
MacOS 12.6
No mods
Let me know if the old save file is helpful, I can attach it. But seeing as the bug is that the game wasn't auto saving, and a manual save failed...not sure if that's helpful.
Also to note, I did cycle out of build mode for short periods of time between building to test/move items that were in use. So if it doesnt auto-save during building, maybe it wasn't long enough "in-game" to auto-save during the short period I have live mode on. Even still, doesn't explain why the manual save didn't work.
EDIT: After doing a little investigation, I realize that when hitting "save game" it *should* bring up a save gave dialogue box. This did not happen for me before. It's been a bit since I've played the game, so I didn't remember that that was how it should have worked. I figured it would act like an auto-save. So it seems something was pretty glitched out, and nothing was acting quite like it should?

Hello,
we are sorry that you lost your progress. As gamers, we truly understand how unpleasant this situation is. Please take into the accord that as long as we remember this is the first time we have heard about such an issue in Project Hospital. Unfortunately the log file is always rewritten after a while with records coming from the current playthrough so it might be impossible to retrieve your save data or analyze the issue. Yet if you would not mind we would like to take a look at your last save and output_log anyway and check for anything fishy.
Guide where to find it is located here
The only possible explanation of such instability we can think of is the situation when the HW specs of the device are on the edge of the minimal requirements and the shift of requirements after your long labor in Building mode when the hospital became much more complex. Would you please share with us the HW and SW specifications of your device?
There is one little spark of hope yet but we would not advise clinging to it. Would you please take a look at the steam remote storage? If, by chance, the cloud save was successfully made, you should find it here https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage. Also, you are correct about autosaving using the in-game time, most usually it is set to perform the save each hour of game time therefore it is not able to save the progress in Building mode.
One last thing, the save dialogue box is not present in game UI. Mostly the game reacts only with minor stuture after the manual save or autosave.
