[RESOLVED WON'T FIX] Laboratory tests are not performed at once
Thu Feb 14, 2019 1:34 pm
Description
If there are possible multiple laboratory tests (e.g. microbial sampling, blood draw, CBC - sampling, mycologic sampling, elastase test, PCR sampling, serologic sampling, urine sampling, stool collection, maybe others with low discomfort - surely not peritoneal fluid sampling or spinal fluid sampling), the tests are not performed at once, but they are performed sequentially. This means that in case of first test fail, patient must wait for test result, wait for doctor and again wait for another test result.
Repro steps
Use attached save game to check. See patient Kate Smith. First one ordered Serologic sampling, second one PCR - sampling. Finally patient leaves hospital, because PCR sampling was not finished in time (before 18:00). This makes hospital statistics worse and also it is better for patient to make all necessary tests from one sample (surely in real world).

Hi, happy to see you're still playing the game!
I understand the point and the suggested change would indeed improve the efficiency of laboratory procedures. Unfortunately this would mean completely overwriting the data structures (currently each lab procedure is a sequence of sampling and testing and it's the sampling that the player/doctors choose - this would have to be switched around to be able to share the sampling stage and you can probably imagine what such a change would mean on a live system, or in other words, with all the existing save files around).
On a more positive note though, we're planning other improvements that should help with the side of things that's causing the bad statistics - we're planning to finally introduce the night shift at the clinic, so there should be always enough time to run the tests even for patients who arrive at around let's say 3-4 pm.

Yep. I'm still playing game and biggest problem for me is unrealistic time elapsing - e.g. transport patient from ER to radiology cross hospital can take hour, which blocks staff on radiology. Also examination on radiology is short (few minutes), but nurse with stretcher has not returned stretcher to original location. Realistic time elapsing would be great (at least for me). Also I'm missing waiting lists on all examination and treatment rooms with ability to change order of patients. But this is off topic.
I understand the complexity of lab test flow and if this change needs big rework, than change with night shift on clinic could be acceptable solution.
