[QUESTION] Inaccessible floors through indirect outside access Empty [QUESTION] Inaccessible floors through indirect outside access

Fri Jul 31, 2020 4:09 pm
Hi,

So this is the second time I ran into this problem and it's pretty frustrating to deal with as it requires complete redesigns. The issue is that when I make 2 separate buildings and later connect them via bridges, the building that is not directly connected to the outside through entrances is entire inaccessible even though they are indirectly connected to the outside via elevators.

It would be great if this could be amended as it just doesn't make sense that you can't use a whole department just because it doesn't have direct outside access.

In the pictures you can see the outside structure of the buildings. The right building housing the hospitalisation facilities is inaccessible on ground floor level.

Here is the view in management mode from both ground level and the first floor.

Hi, thanks for the message! I can see the problem in this particular design, unfortunately this is one of the core limitations of the system, which is actually in place to support multiple individual buildings - if the characters need to go between two areas in let's say the top floor of two different buildings, they need to be able to go back to the ground floor and take elevator back up the second building.

Is it safe to assume a feature of this nature will not be integrated given how the engine operates, or is it a possibility in the future?

Hi, unfortunately this is not really on the list - this is a pretty specific case and any changes required would mean a significant overhaul of the whole navigation system. Apart from implementation itself this could easily take weeks of testing to track down all the side effects a change of one of the core systems is bound to have.
