I have benches in the waiting room, but I have so many patients standing in the waiting room. Why is this?

Are the benches in the waiting room of the department the patients are waiting for? Is that waiting area part of reception? Or is it an emergency room waiting room? Once they're standing, they don't sit down if a seat becomes free except when they return from doing something else.

All the standing patients are emergency dep. patients, and they are all standing at the emergency dep. waiting area.

What about that part to bottom left? Is that reception area?

From what I can see, it looks like your waiting room for trauma isn't big enough, and they won't use the reception waiting area because they aren't waiting for reception.

To me, it does not look like the reception waiting area is separate from the waiting area of the emergency department. By the look of its colour, the reception is under the emergency department.
How do I tell the difference between the waiting area for the reception and for the ER?

Hi, in management mode you can tell the rooms apart by looking at their icons on the floor or hovering over them (the name plus more info will be then shown on the main panel).
In this case feel free to extend the waiting room over the bottom right part of the reception seating area, that should balance how patients use the seats much better.
